What is Chronic Pain?

Chronic pain is pain that lasts for an extended period, typically defined as persisting for 3 to 6 months or longer.

Unlike acute pain, which is a direct response to an injury or illness and usually goes away once the underlying cause is treated, chronic pain can continue even after the initial cause has healed or may occur without any clear cause at all.

Chronic pain can affect any part of the body and may feel sharp, dull, burning, or aching. It can interfere with daily activities, cause emotional distress, and lead to conditions like anxiety or depression. Managing chronic pain often requires a combination of medical treatment.

Treatment for Chronic Pain

There are several ways to treat pain, depending on the cause. Our bodies are designed to move and in doing so it also heals itself. Pain can cause limitations in movement and irregular movement patterns that result in more pain in other areas.

Using fascial counterstrain, therapeutic massage, and passive/assisted stretch therapy we improve movement which in turn offers pain relief.

These gentle manual therapies help by relaxing muscles, improving circulation, trigger endorphin release (pain relief hormones), reduce stress, and enhance mobility.
