What is TMJ?

TMJ is the abbreviation for temporomandibular joint. This is the joint of your jaw, in front of your ear.

We all have them but that doesn't mean you have a problem. When you have dysfunction at that joint, that's when you experience pain or a TMJ Disorder.

TMJ Treatment

You don't need an official diagnosis to go along with your TJM pain to know you have something that's affecting your sleep, talking, and chewing.

Treatment addresses TMJ pain, tinnitus, migraines, jaw clicking/popping, headaches, earache (non-viral), neck pain, jaw pain from clenching, misalignment, or grinding, and tight muscles.

In addition to treating the muscles of the neck, face and scalp we will also perform gentle stretching to the hips and hamstrings. When these muscles are tight, they can cause an imbalance leading to a pelvic tilt and an increased curve in the lower back, which can ultimately put stress on the neck and jaw.

Based on your symptoms we will develop a treatment plan using a combination of therapies such as Fascial Counterstrain, therapeutic massage, intra-oral muscle massage and stretch, cervical mobilization, and triggerpoint therapy.
